More about the team

It was the marathon component of a Relay for Life Event.  Relay For Life is a global movement that brings communities together to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost and fight back against cancer.

Tanya’s Anytime Fitness club was a major sponsor for this event and believed they needed someone to represent in it.  All of her staff were busy on the day volunteering as marshals and team coaches which left her to actually do the running part of the Marathon.

Tanya roped in Helen as she had once mentioned she wanted to run a marathon before she turned 50.  Tanya got Helen to say “YES” before she explained the event was 106 laps of an oval.  Yes you are reading correctly… 106 laps of an oval.

With zero preparation or training the girls set off on their laps.  At the 32km mark the pain started to set in, the mind wanted to stop… but then you see a cancer survivor run pass.  The thought process very quickly shifts to “if that person can survivor cancer, well then I can put one foot in front of the other to finish this marathon.”  And so that’s what they did.
